#4 – Expect to make a difference
When Derick chose me last year as his selection for “Honorary Teacher Night,” it was – of course, - an honor. But at the same time, I thought, Damn right. What am I doing if I spend a full 18 weeks with a student and I don’t make a difference in their lives? It's a crime to spend all that time and not impact the lives of students or make a different in their lives.
Even if I had not been chosen – and Derick stated that he only chose me because all of the other good teachers were taken – I still would have expected to make a difference.
That what we do.
