Lean-in To Your Passion

I am reminded of Seth Godin’s The Dip when I see this. Godin notes that the easiest way out of a “dip” is to work extra hard – or lean into the dip.

So if you’re struggling, lean in to your dip.  That is what I did all those years ago at BSU.  I spent night after night up in my office reading (William Coles’ The Plural I, Ken Macrorie’s UpTaught, Donald Murray’s A Writer Teaches Writing, and on and on and on) and writing.  I didn’t know it quite yet at the time, but I was leaning-in to my passion for learning and growing as a teacher and writer.

All that work pays off now.
