There isn't a tree, but at least the presents are stacked high.
One reason we didn't get a tree was because of our trio of felines. Just look at how much they liked the presents (having a heat vent next to the presents didn't help things either)! Our poor tree would have been doomed. Einstein actually made a habit of actually sleeping in our last tree. That was, at least, until he got too inquisitive and decided to make a snack out of one of the cords that lead to the Christmas lights. Yeah, it was right out of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. He meowed and flew out of the tree while the lights flickered and went out.
Maybe next year . . .
KoKo chimed in on what she thought of us not having a tree this year . . .

Thankfully our two cats have never chewed on the lights and don't climb the tree anymore. However since becoming cat owners, our trees have become more spartan...no more using good glass ornaments
Berne,
I completely forgot about glass ornaments. We have a smaller tree set up, which Boo promptly knocked down about two hours after it was set up. Thankfully, there were plastic bulbs. I have to get out to Dad's and scavenge the attic for Mom's old glass bulbs. Those are priceless to me.
Merry Christmas
