Teaching Tip #136

Teacherscribe’s Teaching Tip #136

This was aimed at beginning teachers, but can’t it apply to us all?

Commandment #5 – Teach students to organize information and content.

I don’t care if it’s through Cornell Notes or using graphic organizers or using something like Piktochart, it’s vital to help students organize and illustrate content.

This helps them make it their own.  I think – at least for me – this is the first step in being able to really master learning.

For me it happened in college when I was finally able to learn how I learned best (by re-writing information and reading it back to myself).  It’s a shame we don’t do this more for our students.
