Teacherscribe’s Teaching Tip #61
What is the one lesson or unit you could sell tickets for?
I have two that are worth charging. Or at least that is going off students’ reactions.
First, my introduction to narrative writing. I share two classic stories from my youth, the “Barney Incident,” and “The Wagon Incident.”
Students are rolling by the time I tell both of these narratives. It’s effective because as I tell the narratives, I stop and highlight the narrative elements that I want to play up and focus on. I also note what details of the story I will revise and edit out.
