Teacherscribe’s
Teaching Tip #4
I am reviewing a text I read several years ago, The Passion Driven Classroom. The first chapter asks a key question: “Is
there an Achievement Gap or a Passion Gap?”
In reflecting on this, I reviewed a survey I gave my College
Comp students last year about how to improve Lincoln High School (which is part
of their how to essay). One thing they
mentioned was that they disliked when they could tell that a teacher was here
only because they had to be. As one
response said, “I don’t want my teacher just going through the motions.”
That reminds me of a few of our core values, namely “It’s
not about us” and “Our work matters.”
How do you keep up your passion for teaching? I’d love to know.
