Teaching Tip #91

Teacherscribe’s Teaching Tip #91
This one I’ve been practicing since my first year: have a “bad day” folder.
The idea is simple: every time you get a card from a student, a note, or an email, stash it in your “bad day” folder.  Then - and here is the key - when you have one of those days (some here call it a Digi Key day where they could just quit and go work at one of our local businesses), take out that folder and read through the contents.
I often say that I have the best job in the world.  It’s true.  I have a “bad day” folder.  I’ve been keeping it for 18 years now.  I’ve only added to it.  I haven’t had a day bad enough to make me look through it.
Knock on wood.  But when I do, I know I’ll get me a hell of a pick me up.
