The author makes a great point - why should students care about all the good stuff that comes with learning (grit, curiosity, satisfaction in stretching oneself to acquire a new skill, dealing with delayed gratification, finding passion . . .) when they are taught time and time and time again that all that matters is the right answer because enough of those will get you the all holy A.
