Speaking of the growth mindset, here is an excellent read on a great example of the growth mindset in (extreme) action: Why Chinese Mother’s are Superior.

Have your class read this, and you’re guaranteed to have a fantastic discussion.  

I love the line Tan uses: “Nothing is fun until you’re good at it.”

Remind your students of that as they’re suffering through learning a new concept.  Remind them too that they’re on their way to developing the all essential quality of grit.
