Millennials. Love them and hate them.
I found this pretty funny. And true.

As an English teacher, very interesting and oddly gratifying. I love Isaac Asimov's response. But it's still funny.
And it puts the lie (somewhat to this) -

5 Ways to make your classroom more Student Friendly

I love the idea of having students create and maintain digital portfolios. It's vital that we allow them the chance to create positive digital footprints. I just want to know the best ways to do this.
Blogger (or any blogging service) works well.
I've read of teacher using Evernote and Dropbox too.
And Google sites even.
I just wish these were more prevalent so I could see better examples to share with my students. But this is something that isn't going to go away.

Now this is interesting: Your Career Success Formula is Wrong

So much truth here. Especially for the millennials. I recall one of my favorite speakers and thinkers, Don Tapscott, lamenting how too many millennials are losing out on job opportunities because they don't use the safety filters on their Facebook pages.
I would argue that they not only need to use them, but that they also need to use severe discretion when it comes to the activities they upload to their Facebook pages and then have to crank up their safety settings to keep others from seeing it. Just don't do it; if you do, don't put it on social media.

Now this is a very interesting take on the millennials and their new obsession with selfies, (in fact I visited with a colleague out in the hall and watched one student take at least a dozen selfies - probably using Instagram - in the span of two minutes) though by no means is this limited just to millennials as I've observed Gen Xers and Baby Boomers taking selfies.

My principal sent this my way a few days ago with the disclaimer, a half hour but worth the time.
I totally agree. I hope you think so too.

I can't tell you how excited I am to see Marc Prensky talk at this years' TIES conference.

Our colleagues at NCTC shared several videos from the excellent Taylor Mali at our fall inservice meeting out there.
This was the best one -
