Yesterday was a fun day to be a Bengals fan indeed.
First, I watched the first episode of HBO's Hard Knocks on line. It was excellent and gives us a great view into the dynamics of a team being built.
Then the night was capped off with the Bengals beating the Falcons 34-10 in Atlanta. Really, that means nothing. It was just that the Bengals second and third stringers played better than the Falcons' back ups.
Had Matt Ryan, Steven Jackson, Roddy White, and co. played the whole game, the score would have been much different.
This just shows that the Bengals first teamers, who generated 3 points, have a lot of work to do and the Bengals are a really, really deep team.
But to be fair to Cincy, they were without two of their top three receivers (AJ Green and Marvin Jones) as well as Pro-Bowl LT Andrew Whitworth.
Now, there's word they are working on a contract extension for all galaxy DT Geno Atkins. If they could hammer that out (and make him the highest paid defensive lineman in the league . . . if not in the history of the league) it'd be perfect!
