to be a teacher at LHS.
Okay. I think that statement is true all the time.
But it's a really amazing time to be a teacher right now as yesterday we received our 1:1 technology. Every teacher will have a MacBook Air (okay, most teachers will. Mr. Froiland chose to get a new desktop computer. And a few others might have done that as well) and an iPad.
I borrowed Mr. Loe's camera to snap this picture of the technology now at my disposal.
This, of course, doesn't guarantee great teaching. However, it certainly opens up the potential for great teaching.
Just today I've come across these great resources in trying to use (even) more technology in my class.
Here is a site (anothertweetinthewall) that allows you to display tweets. This allows you to enter in a hashtag (such as #honors13 that I used during the honors banquet or #lhsseniors2013 that the seniors used during graduation) or specific tweets, and it will display it in a high quality format.
So if you're having a classroom discussion, you could put this up on the SMARTboard. Or if you were to have a homework assignment, you could have students leave feedback and then have the screen up at the start of class and have students respond to it.
Here is another site - ed.ted.com. What I love about this site is that it allows you to search videos related to TED. Then it allows you to build or "flip" lessons around the video. This is a great resource tool for supplementing lessons or flipping your classroom.
Here is my initial attempt. It's rough but it holds a ton of potential.
