First Christmas Party

Yesterday Kenz had her pre-school Christmas party.  Kristie and I got there a few minutes after the festivities began and no sooner were we about fifteen feet down the hallway when Kenz came flying into Kristie's arms.

I sure hope she wasn't getting nervous that we weren't coming.  Nothing could have kept us away.

Kenz loves to strike a pose!

Now you know where Kenz gets her beautiful looks.

Writing her letter to Santa.

What smiles!

The pre-school wing went all out.  In one room they had Santa (Kenz wanted nothing to do with him though).  In another room they had ice cream.  Then in the other rooms they had various activities - you could decorate small trees, write letters to Santa, paint a candy cane and a Christmas bulb, and play with Play Dough.

It was a blast.

And the grand finale was a set of Christmas songs they kids were going to perform.  Kenz got to the performance room a few seconds late.

By the time we got her situated with the other kids, there was hardly room to see.

Kristie motioned for me to see if I could get a good spot to snap a few pictures.  I went to the center area in front of the kids, but it was like I was 15 again and trying to get as close to the front row at the Metallica concert I attended.  I'm not joking.  It was packed.

And all the parents had their phones or video cameras out.

I snapped a couple pictures and got the hell out of there.

Some parents weren't even able to see what they were recording.  They just held their phones up as high as they could and hoped for the best.

What a scene.

Now the cynic in me thinks when exactly are they ever going to watch those videos?

But I have to admit, had I been able to elbow my way to the front row, I'd have recorded Kenzie.  But like most of them, I'd maybe watch it once - maybe twice when I showed it to the grandparents and then never watched it again.

So I did what my parents would have had to do.  I walked back over to Kristie, put my phone away, and just grinned as I watched Kenz perform.
