obectionable?



I used this picture in class. It's an award winning picture. And it's in one of our history texts.

Objectionable? Damn right. Why is he burning himself alive? Is that right? What is he protesting?

These are teachable moments. But those moments are in question. So just to be clear on what is not objectionable, take your textbooks and bring them to administration or the school board and let them read through them and decide.

Otherwise, as Rage Against the Machine says in another song, "Sleep Now in the Fire."

6 English teachers x 4 years college each = 24 years of education (not including Masters degrees...at least 100 years of teaching experience combined....
When will the administration and the community respect the professional judgement of educated teachers? If they are not capable of choosing curriculum for our students, who is? They are trained to make these decisions, so let's let them do their jobs.
