My desk is a disaster. Post It Notes galor. Pens and pencils scattered. Books piled high (those professional texts I always order and then never quite get around to reading until later in the year). Beneath them is a folder of an booklet I promised to read and edit for a former coach here and a great buddy of mine (I’m still trying to get around to proofing it). Papers and worksheets all over the place. How can I ever stay organized?

Just got an email from our head coach. It appears he had to discipline one of his starters, who will not make the trip to their game this week. I was amazed.
What a stand to take! How many other coaches would have done that? Would I even have done that at such a crucial point in the season. But as the coach said, this person let the team down. And if it’s one thing this coach stresses, it’s team.
Even though I coach - and I coached this particular athlete (and liked them very, very much), I am hoping that this little incident will have a greater impact on their life 10 or so years down the road. The choices we make are important. So are the choices we decide not to make. I think our coach has driven that point home.
Bravo.

I just got an email from Jen at the MNHS wanting me to confirm my lesson plan for next Wednesday. I tried looking it up on my laptop, but it was gone. So far I’ve done nine lesson plans as part of this degree program. But I only have eight folders. Of course, the one that was missing was the one I needed. I msut have typed it up on my school computer and left it there where it got wiped out over the summer.
Luckily, she had the original copy I had emailed her and sent it back to me. Now I’ve downloaded it and it’s safely stored in a folder now.
Close call. I really would have had to wing the lesson then.
But in the end I finished the project. I have a second blog now - madhistoryblogger. You can find the link on the upper right hand column under the 'blogs I enjoy' section.
I'm outta here. Have a good weekend.
