Final day of class
Though the readings were dreadful, the real benefit of this class was the discussions. I could listen to Eric and Loeill talk all day. I taught what amounted to two years with Loeill in town (student teaching and my first years). There is no way to measure the impact he had on me while he was there. Few people have ever impacted my career like he did. He certainly ranks high among all of the great teachers I've had and worked with. On the very best days of class, I often think "I can't fill Loeill's shoes, but I can tie them."
