A Visit

Last night we had a visit from one of Kristie's former work mates. He had to deliver some of her belongings from work. I won't get into why she quit - other than she found her boss doing something very inappropriate. She tried to quit twice. Once her boss called crying and promised to cease the activity and a $200 a month raise. The second time, the main boss (Kristie's boss's father) and another main boss had an intervention with Kristie's boss. More tears and a signed letter promising a total cease to the activity (and another $100 a month raise). However, it still didn't stop, so she finally left work.

She hasn't heard anything from the boss and father - mostly because of the signed letter and a camera she used to document some of the inappropriate things at work.

We had a good laugh with her former coworker. He plopped on our couch and visited for a good three hours. He isn't happy that Kristie is gone. She did quite a job brightening that place up and developing a rapport with the customers and dealers. But they did hire a man for Kristie's position (she was the third woman to quit that position in about a decade - if that tells you anything about the problems there).

She misses the relationships she built, and is bitter - justifiably so - about having to quit a very lucrative job - she was nearly making per month what I am now after 10 years of teaching - and having to quit through no fault of her own. This coupled with the fact that there are next to no jobs available has left her feeling quite hateful toward her former boss. But one of her other former managers called with a possible job offer, so that's good.
