There was a hell of a storm brewing back home this morning as I left for GF. I didn't notice anything really this morning as I let the dogs out. But then again our backyard is pretty sheltered. The wind was out of the north, so the house was blocking that. Then we have two large trees on the east side of our yard and a monstrous tree on the west side - easily the largest tree on the block - if not the whole side of town. So I noticed a few sprinkles, but nothing major. That was until I got out of town. The wind was howling out of the north. My poor old Cavalier was getting bounced all over the road. The clouds to the west were racing across the horizon and the rain was coming down. In fact, the corn to the south side of the road was bent at an extreme angle. In order to stay on the road, I had to rank the wheel a half turn to the right.

Yesterday was mostly a disaster here at the RRVWP. First, I forgot my laptop adaptor at the ALC, so in the middle of typing a prompt and communicating with Mandy (who was kind enough to fill in for me at the ALC so I can attend here) about classes, my computer went dead. So I rummaged in my already cluttered back pack - no adaptor. With gas up to $3.20 and a 90 minute presentation on Wednesday (and no solid idea of what I wanted to do it on), I had planned to spend the evening in town with my mother-in-law. But now I had to run back to get my adaptor. To compound matters, the ALC classes are over around 12:30, and I wouldn't be out of here until 3:30. Thankfully, I got hold of Kristie who looked up the District Service Center number in the phonebook (for some reason finding the ALC number is a nightmare). So I called, had them transfer me to the ALC, and, of course, the powers that be there were gone. I called the DSC back and had them transfer me directly to Mandy, who graciously agreed to take my adaptor over to the high school and leave it for me to pick up later that day.
So much for planning to spend the rest of day in GF working on my presentation.
Then I ended up taking too long for lunch. I thought we had 12 to 1 for lunch. In fact, it's 11:45 to 12:25, so I walked right in on the first demonstration. What a moron.
Fortunately, the afternoon session went well and back home I headed. Kristie called me on my cell phone and I began talking to her about her day and how things went for me. However, I cannot talk on a cell phone and focus. Instead of driving down University Ave, I was back home sitting on the couch with her. Not good. When I tried to focus on driving, I wasn't paying attention to talking. Finally, Kristie had had enough and told me to call her back later. This was a good thing because when I got off the phone, I looked at my gas level, and it was almost empty! I'd have never made it home.
I was able to skip volleyball and get some work done on my presentation. Yesterday, in my small group, we were going over one of the readings and we started talking about form. This lead into a debate about the five paragraph theme, so I was in my element. This lead to a large group discussion.
So I've decided to take my proposal from a few weeks ago and turn it into my presentation. There is still some work to do, but at least I have a topic.
