Yesterday my sister and I went out to Dad's to search through his records for an old estimate and survey he had done in the late 80s. The estimate/survey was to find how much gravel there was on the property. And there was plenty since most of Highway 32 running from old Marcoux Corner at the junction of 32 and Highway 2 north to Red Lake Falls was done mostly with the gravel from our pit.
We are now looking at selling the pit and the remaining land around it. We are still planning on keeping some acres for ourselves. But the acres containing the gravel are by far the most valauble. We were hoping to find the old papers so we wouldn't have to have another survey/estimate done. But we had no luck finding anything like it.
But there were other treasures found. One of which I am attaching below. It is a picture of me riding with Dad on his old John Deere. My sister must be standing on the step platform on the left side since she was the one who took the picture. I am amazed at how much my dad's profile looks like mine now. Dad would have been 39. I would have been four.
I don't know that I've ever seen this picture.
