Signing off

The day is at an end. Tomorrow is the big football game for the section championship and a home state playoff game, the first to ever be here I believe. Plenty of pressure.

A few of my sophomores have commented on my sweater vests (I have all of two). They have decided that the last day of the quarter shall be sweater vest day. We'll see how many go through with it. Might be a good picture for the yearbook.

Speaking of that, I saw a photo op this afternoon. Students have always sat in the hallways and eaten lunch. Few seem to actually sit and eat in the cafeteria. Since we have an open campus, they are free to leave for lunch. Subway, Taco Johns, and several other places are within two blocks. As a result, most students tend to bring their food back here and eat by their lockers. Well, as I was walking I noticed one student who had taken this to an extreme. For from his locker he pulled out a canvas folding chair! He set that up and then he set the little canvas table up for his pizza. I thought I had seen everything until I came back and saw that one of his friends had the same set up. I said, "You've got to talk to the yearbook staff. This is too good."

I am beat. Since around noon I have been in need of a nap. One of my joys of summer is napping. I usually teach at least one term of three classes at the ALC in town. So I get home around 12:30 each day. I am usually beat. So I grab a book and head out to our new couch on our porch. It takes me about 35 seconds to drift off. The same thing often happened when I was at BSU. In between classes and workouts, I'd head over to the library and find a comfortable chair and dose off. So now I'm contemplating naps here. I could lock my door and turn off my lights and take a quick 15 minute power nap.

Ironically, I was reading one of my favorite blogs (countryscribe.com) and found a link to this article on the benefits of napping. If this works, here is the link. http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentServer?pagename=thestar/Layout/Article_Type1&c=Article&cid=1162034471459&call_pageid=1105528093962&col=1105528093790

It's a great article.
