Snow-Bound

Our former American Lit Text had part of this poem, "Snow Bound: A Winter Idyl" by John Greenleaf Whittier, -- http://www.theotherpages.org/poems/whitt02.html.

I always liked it because Whittier hit the nail on the head, so to speak, when it comes to getting snowed in. The snow piled up today, so much so that we had to shovel twice. We ventured out once - to the grocery story. Other than that we just stayed in. We just saw on TV that both my school and my kids' school will be running two hours late.

The poem does a great job capturing the suspense in being snow in, that break in routine that makes a blizzard almost enjoyable.
