Old dog, new tricks
Three of my College Comp students, Steven, Michael, and Stephen, were looking at the newest ipods that a couple of students had. Steven, who was the owner of one of the new ipods, stated how he could play videos on my projector system. Of course, I have all of my videos, movies, and podcasts on my computer too, but it would be incredibly convenient to just hook up my ipod and let it play through the projector without sacrificing hooking up my laptop.
My jaw hit my desk.
It has been one of my quests for I don’t know how long to try and utilize my ipod – and its video selection – on my project. I looked at his AV cables, and he said that he bought his at Radio Shack, where he works.
Then I went to my desk and took out some AV cables I bought for my ipod to project it onto a TV. All three said, “Oh, you can use that on your projector no problem.”
My jaw found its way to my desk yet again.
I talked to our computer tech guy and he didn’t think there was any way for me to use my ipod in conjunction with my project. And here were these three kids hooking me up and getting me all ready to go.
Within two minutes we were watching a Johnny Quest episode from my ipod through my projector on my classroom wall. The only draw back is that the sound system doesn’t run through the speakers on my audio/visual cart. I need the audio plug to connect to the projector, so the sound comes from my project’s (poor) sound system. But it works!
I was all too happy to be there student today.
