New tree.
Last year we went without a tree. That was mostly because Einstein destroyed our previous one and a good number of bulbs.
For some reason, he took to actually climbing inside the tree and lying there. A 20 pound cat stretched across a fake tree was hilarious. Or so I thought.
Kristie was not amused. Especially when he broke one of KoKo’s bulbs.
Then came the night when we were watching TV and heard Einstein rustling around in the tree. We figured he was just nestling in.
Then a little while later, a rapid succession of things occurred almost simultaneously. There was a loud “meoow!” There was a gray and white blur as Einer bolted out of the tree. Fur floated to the air, and a band of Christmas tree lights went out.
Apparently, Einer was imitating that cat for National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and was gnawing on a string of lights.
So this year we went with a new one.
Einer has stayed away. He’s eyed a few bulbs and chomped on a fake pine needle. But I think he’s learned his lesson.

I heard two teachers discussing what movies they are going to show today and tomorrow.
This is always the conundrum with these days right before Christmas break.
Luckily, in my Lit & Language 11 class I expertly worked a film into the syllabus so it would fall precisely on this day (please note sarcasm here). Really, we did watch a film, but it ties into our TKM unit.
We watched Stand by Me today. To say kids loved it would be a vast understatement.
Now comes the fun part. Connecting it to both Sandlot and TKM. Then having students personally relate to all three.
