Mock Draft 2020

  1. Cincy – Joe Burrow QB – No brainer. Best QB season ever. This is the easiest pick of the draft

    Other options – No one.

  1. Washington – Chase Young DE Washington lands maybe the most talented player in the draft. Just think about the defensive line Ohio State has cranked out in the last few drafts

    Other options – No one.

  1. Detroit – Derrick Brown DT. The best player left on the board is another Buckeye – Jeff Okudah – but the Lions rarely go CB in the first round. They haven’t had an impact DT since Suh, so they go there now.

Other options - They could go with CB Okudah. Or shock the world and nab Tua.

  1. Giants – Jeff Okudah CB. The Giants have the best player left on the board fall into their laps. He will make Giants fans forget about Eli Apple.

Other options - Simmons or a WR.

  1. Miami – Tua T QB. Miami wanted Burrow, but unless they could trade every draft pick for the next 40 years, they won’t have enough ammunition to go up and get him. So they nab Tua, who continues the trend of ‘tiny’ (by past NFL standards) QBs going high.

    Other options -No one.

  1. Chargers – Isaiah Simmons LB/S. I didn’t know where to go with the Chargers, but they get a great combination of Junior Seau meets Rodney Harrison. I think they’ll take him

Other options -I could see the Chargers adding a QB or an OT as the draft is rich in the latter.

  1. Carolina – Jordan Love QB. I’m throwing a curve ball here. What does Carolina have at QB? Exactly. I think they pull a NY Giants shocker here and go with the surprise QB pick.

Other options -They could go OT or defense.

  1. Arizona – Jedrick Wills OT Arizona landed the QB last year, now they have their pick of top OL to protect him.

Other options -Maybe a WR as there is still a lot of talent on the board.

  1. Jacksonville – Justin Herbert QB. You can’t seriously expect Jax to go with Minshew as their starter? Herbert leaves the west coast for Florida.

Other options -They could go OT or defense.

  1. Cleveland – Meekhi Becton OT. So many directions for Cleveland to go. Since their OL was terrible, I gave them a tackle to help protect Mayfield and cut down on all of those turnovers. If that’s possible.

Other options - Who knows?  It won’t help this franchise.

  1. Jets – Jerry Jeudy WR. The Jets have their QB. Now they add the first WR taken to help generate yards.

Other options - Could go defense (Kinlaw or CB or OT).

  1. Raiders – Henry Ruggs III WR. With Mayock in control maybe the Raiders will actually be making normal pics again. I see them going – in typical Raider fashion – with some legit speed here.

Other options - They could nab a corner too.

  1. SF – Javon Kinlaw DL. WR right? Nope. SF doesn’t build that way. I see them adding to a team strength and going DL here. Sure they traded away a DL, so why just replace him when you could have kept him? Simple – you’re adding some better.

Other options - I’ve heard talk of WR, but I just don’t see SF going that way.

  1. Tampa Bay – Andrew Thomas OT. Gotta protect Tom.

Other options - You can never have enough shutdown corners (CJ Henderson) or WR (plenty of good ones still on the board).

  1. Denver – CeeDee Lamb WR. In a world of passing the ball, the Broncos have two amazing running backs. Go figure. They need some other weapons to remind them that it’s not the 1970s.

Other options - Broncos could also go for defense with a lot of talent still on the board in the secondary (CB and S) or at LB.

  1. Atlanta – CJ Henderson CB. Atlanta has the offensive weapons, but it’s always the same story for them: defense. They get the second best CB in this class.

Other options - When will the Falcons finally get around to getting this defense to match their offense? Wasn’t it just a few years ago that Julio Jones made an amazing catch on the sidelines to put the Falcons in the redzone to go up even more against the Pats in the SB? How history would have been changed!

  1. Dallas – Jeremy Chinn S. My man, Josh Koop, said the teams are drafting from their own facilities this time, so who will be there to talk Jerry Jones out of his usual crazy shit? Exactly. Chinn is a very talented player, but this is a reach at this spot. Still, I think that is just what Jones’ ego will want. He is a poor man’s Isaiah Simmons.

Other options - Center. The Cowboys lost Travis Frederick, so they could trade back and still land a starting center. But when the Cowboys defense was great, it always had a great safety (Darren Woodson, Roy Williams, James Washington) so they could trade back and still and a safety.

  1. Miami – Tristan Wirfs OT. The Fins are up with their second first round pic. They nab someone to protect Tua in the top rated OT.

Other options - The Fins did extend Jesse Davis at RT, but they don’t have much else along the line. This draft is rich with lineman so they could even trade back and get more picks (it’s hard to imagine them needing more picks though) and still grab quality.

  1. Raiders – Yetur Gross-Matos DE. The Raiders need more help on the pass rush and go with the long and lean Gross-Matos who fills the typic Raiders DE mold of Paul Guenther

Other options - I’ve seen some mocks where they have Grudin grabbing a young QB, but Gruden loves his veteran QBs. I just don’t see them going in that direction. Look for some help along that defensive line to come here.

  1. Jacksonville – Javon Kinlaw DT. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a draft where so many teams have multiple first round picks. Does Jax go to support their QB? Nope. The last time they were great wasn’t all that long ago (remember they had a late lead on the Pats in the 2017 AFC championship). How were they able to do that? Great defense. They go for a great DL hre.

Other options - Maybe they go for help along the offensive line or at wide receiver to help out Justin Herbert.

  1. Eagles – Justin Jefferson WR Speaking of returning to form. When was the last time the Eagles were good? That’s right.  They were beating the tar of out of the Yikes in the NFC championship (SLOK). They did that with explosive plays on offense. Why not get the best slot receiver in the draft to help with that?

Other options - I could see the Eagles adding all three levels of their defense here too.

  1. Vikes – Kristian Fulton CB. The entire Vikes’ defense needs a makeover now. They go CB to replace their starting third in the secondary. This won’t be the last defensive back for MN in the early rounds.

Other options - I could see MN landing an OT here too. They are a run first team now with Cook and the play middling play of Cousins, so adding a quality starter at tackle would be a real possibility here too. Another corner to keep an eye on is the kid from Utah who played his last year with a shoulder injury.

  1. Pats – Josh Jones OT. The Pats haven’t drafted all that well. Brady made up for a lot of misses. But the one thing they have hit on is offensive lineman. They go that way here. They will need someone to protect Andy Dalton (hint, hint).

Other options - I really don’t see the Pats sitting here. This is their only pick in the first 87 selections, so look for them to trade back to add more second round picks. The Pats haven’t drafted very well, but they always go for quantity over quality hoping to hit on more than they miss.

  1. New Orleans – Patrick Queen LB. The Saints couldn’t stop the run. At all. The last time we saw them. So they go to their instate champions, LSU, to help that.

Other options - It hurt to see the Vikes drive down the length of the field against my former favorite NFC team time and again in that playoff game. Time to get stout against the run, so they could add a big DT here too.

  1. Vikes – AJ Epanesa DE. The Vikes lost a lot on their defensive line. Zim likes long and lean defensive ends, and the Vikes get one here out of Iowa.

Other options - Again, the Vikes love to wheel and deal. I could see them trading with Cincy to grab the first pick in the second round as well as another selection either in round three or four. The Vikes could nab that OT or WR here too.

  1. Miami – Tee Higgins WR. Miami has their QB, a stud on the OL, and now they add a threat on the outside. They will probably find a way to screw this up as Miami often does, but if they hit it out of the park, this could make them legitimate contenders again.

Other options - Miami has so many picks, they could add to their defense here too or build up their offensive line as well.

  1. Seattle – K’Lavon Chaisson DE. If it’s one thing Seattle is known for, it’s defense. I see them nabbing the best DL on the board here.

Other options - Some argue that Seattle could go OT or WR, but they know their defense got them a championship before. I could also see them nabbing a safety (Deplit, McKinney, or my under the radar kid who is going to be amazing: Antoine Winfield Jr).

  1. Baltimore – Kenneth Murray LB. Baltimore knows one thing: linebackers. This kid from Oklahoma is a heat seeking missile. This pick is what Baltimore is all about.

Other options - The Ravens could try and add talent to the WR group to make Hollywood Brown even more explosive.

  1. Tennessee – Austin Jackson OT. Tennessee’s brand of football is to grind it out. I think they play to their strengths by adding a big OT to help out their incredible running game.

Other options - They could go LB (Zach Baun) or go to the interior of the offensive line by grabbing the first C or G of the draft

  1. Green Bay – Grant Delpit S. Ha Ha Clinton Dix is long gone, and Green Bay needs a playmaker in their secondary. They could go WR, but the Pack haven’t grabbed a WR in the first round in forever. There isn’t a TE worthy of taking this high, so they go for a playmaker in their secondary.

Other options - The Packers have thrived off of Rogers. He - like Brady and Manning - have made pedestrian WRs seem really good, but it would be interesting to see what would happen if the Pack actually gave Rogers some real weapons.

  1. SF – AJ Terrell CB.  Again, SF stays on the defensive side of the ball. Yes, their offense is the weak link, but sometimes you can compensate for that by making your strength even better. The SF secondary is not very good. Their incredible pass rush made up for their weak secondary.

Other options - WR obviously, but I don’t see it happening that way

  1. KC - Jeff Gladney CB. If the Chiefs could stop people of defense like SF can, they’re going to be a dynasty, given that they could have been playing in their second SB had it not been for Dee Ford lining up offsides two years ago. The makings are there for something special.

Other options - Defense LB (Zach Baun) or DL (Ross Blacklock) or S (Winfield) would go a long way to helping make their defense as great as their offense, which is hard to imagine
