Teacherscribe’s
Teaching Tip #29
“Schools should just be run like businesses. They don’t tolerate inefficiency or
mediocrity.” Really?
Have you been to Wal-Mart lately? How about McDonalds? How efficient is the drive through at our
Dairy Queen?
I agree that there are some aspects of business and
leadership that can be applied to education.
However, there is no one fool-proof approach that guarantees
success. Unless it means working hard to
build a strong, caring culture that supports innovation and takes care of its
people.
I’m no business expert, but I am willing to wager that if
you were to look at the most successful businesses (long-term) you’d find the
same factors that lead to their success.
I think those can be applied to the best schools.
