Teacherscribe’s Teaching Tip #56
Great teaching doesn’t look the same. Nor should it.
The trick for young teachers (and vets too I imagine) is to learn to be comfortable with students. Then develop an arsenal of tricks and techniques and methods to use.
As you grow as a teacher, review those tricks and techniques and methods for their effectiveness. Example - I used to give notes. This was vital for me for my first 10 years or so. But I don’t do it anymore. It was effective early on for me as a way to manage my class first and then communicate information second (and a distant second) and third to show off how much I knew to my students (this is what I thought was teaching by imitating my college professors).
