What's going on in 205

Where has the first semester gone?  There are just 11 days left now.

Here is what we're working on as we wind down.

Lit & Lang 9R.

It's not ideal for a time frame, but we are beginning to read Mark Mathabane's autobiography Kaffir Boy.  The length of the book will be daunting for us, but the subject matter is so riveting that it won't be hard to keep my students readings.  That is until things get a little tedious over the last 1/3 of the book.

College Comp 2.

Students are in the midst of writing their multi-genre research papers.  From the look of things today, the students have excellent topics. They just didn't quite use their Christmas break as wisely as they should have.  But with some time this week and over the weekend, the papers should be great. I can't wait to read (or view - in some cases) them.

Next week, we will begin our college/career paper and project.

The final week will involve their final interviews out at Digi Key.

College Comp.

Again, another class that didn't quite work as diligently as they should have over break. They are putting the finishing touches on their literary analysis of "Young Goodman Brown."  When that is done, we will compare Hawthorne's story to Training Day.

After that, students will take their test on their second novel.

Then we will spend the final week writing their first real college level research paper.
