Wow. That was intense.
On Friday I was heading to my room and talking with one of my heroes, H. He mentioned how unlike any year before, he hit the ground running and had no time to get caught up.
I told him that I felt the same way. In fact, sometimes it seems like by the time I take a breath, it's already noon!
With everything going on - we all knew it would be intense.
Here's a sampling of all that was going on during inservice and the first week -
* remodeling
* unpacking my entire room
* a new grade and attendance system
* three preps
* meetings (curriculum chairs, curriculum committee, mentor/mentee, education association, department)
* getting internet up and running in my room (for some reason it wasn't working on the first day of school. How's that for irony? We're a 1:1 school and some classrooms don't have internet)
* using all the devices
* getting my SMART board up and running correctly (the bracket that mounts it to the roof was installed in a different location during the remodeling)
* our first LINC meeting
* trying to re-familiarize myself with Google Docs
* teaching my night class at UND
* dealing with all the bureaucracy at UND in order to get keys and my email straightened out.
* finishing the insane hours and hours of on-line sexual harassment and safety training dictated by our district.
* mentoring two new English teachers
* lining up technology sessions at the KB Fall Drive In.
* preparing at talk to the AAUW.
* Putting in requests to teach some technology sessions at an upcoming district inservice day.
* Dealing with EA issues
* Getting out invites to the Fall Drive In and the new hires dinner.
* oh yeah, and to get some reading for class and grading of papers done!
It's the greatest job in the world, but, honestly, by 3:10 every day, I could sleep for three hours.
