World War Z

Brad Pitt's zombie epic, World War Z, hits theatres today.

The theatrical poster is awesome.

If you haven't seen the trailer, watch it below.  The zombies in this film make the marauding zombies in 28 Days Later (the first film to have 'fast' zombies) seem almost docile.  I mean just look at the swarming wall of zombies that try to scale the wall of a safe zone in Jerusalem.

The book was one of the most original takes on the zombie theme I've ever read.  The book is written ten years after the zombie plague almost wiped out the human population.  Each chapter is written as an interview with various survivors (an astronaut who watched the events unfold from the space station, a Chinese submarine commander, a military general who came up with the key strategy to save mankind, a deep sea diver who works to protect underwater welders against zombie hordes in the depths).

It is an amazing book and well worth your time - if you're into horror fiction that is.

The movie doesn't follow that documentary approach, though.  However, it does look very entertaining.
