My College Comp II students have their multi-genre research papers due today. Most dove in quite gladly (the topic is to research and writer about, in at least four different genres, something they are passionate about). Their topics range from writing about the double life of their grandfather (he was an engineer at Arctic during the day and a cowboy on his small farm during the evening), Harry Potter, The Picture of Dorian Gray, figure skating, cats, another student's grandfather who passed away, football, Disney . . . all great topics.
There were a few, though, who procrastinated and didn't do a whole lot until last night.
Let it be a lesson to them.
One student facetiously (at least I hope it was facetiously) asked via Twitter last night if it was too late to drop College Comp 2. I responded by asking what would they do next year? Everything is this hard in college.
Luckily, I had two former students respond. The first said that I was lying. Everything is actually even harder in college. And the second one, who knows the student in question, said that as a math major they wouldn't have to write papers, but they would have to have pages and pages of proofs!
I was able, though, to capture a couple of my students putting their MGRP together -
