Today's Stupid

In order to writer more on my blog, I've decided to start a new series of blog posts called "Today's Stupid" which will feature the most ludicrous stories I come across.

Here are the first installments:

This story makes me wonder if we aren't living in 1800 rather than 2012.  Our Lady of Shadow's school forfeits a chance to play for a state championship.  Why?  Because their opponent has a female player.  Really?  What's next? Refusing to play because the other team has minority players?  This just seems to me like we are returning to the Dark Ages again.

Keeping with the theme of separation of the sexes, here is this little wonder from the Fargo Forum.  I just wish both my mother and grandmother were alive to read this.  Or better yet, to have a discussion with this man.

The article starts off with - "Men have ruled every civilization since the beginning of time and always will. That is not the question." (I guess the writer has never heard of these historical leaders: Cleopatra, Joan of Ark, Queen Elizabeth, and Queen Victoria).  And it ends with this delightful nugget: "A truly free and just society will be one that promotes women as homemakers and mothers, nurses, teachers, secretaries and cheerleaders." Oh, how my grandmother would tear into him for those last lines!  Apparently, women aren't fit to be politicians, doctors, military leaders, writers, mayors, or astronauts either.
