Final Day 2012

Well, the end is here.

All my senior letters are written.  All but two are distributed.  The big senior assembly and video is over.  They are all out at the Ralph practicing for the ceremony tonight.

The school is in the usual state an pandemonium with an abbreviated schedule and juniors about to become the big shots around here.

Everyone is either madly trying to get their work in or trying to discern what to do with the last hour of school.

I'm waiting on junior research papers from College Comp.

Then I'm off to pick Cash up from daycare and get us cleaned up for graduation tonight and then off to some receptions.

Every time the last day of school arrives, I always think about the last day of my first year teaching.  It was one of the happiest days of my life.  I had survived five sections of sophomores that no one else wanted.  I had made it through the year all on my own.  Back then my biggest concern was making sure each student had turned in their 'themes,' for we had to file these in our English storage room every year.  Since I was a first year teacher, I hadn't quite followed through with this so I spent a large portion of that day going through stacks and stacks of papers to make sure I had at least one theme per student.

Man, I don't miss those days.  I will miss the seniors though.  And I will look forward to the new ones showing up for College Comp II and a few for College Comp I next year.
