"This is the best Halloween project EVER!"
Kenzie said that as we were putting our first Halloween project of the season together yesterday. I know it's only the middle of August. But you'd be shocked how quickly autumn flies by. I'm telling you we'll all be eating turkey leftovers soon and bitching about the Vikings (well, I won't be) and the weather soon enough.
Last weekend we travelled to GF. While KoKo and Kristie headed to Lowe's, Kenz and I headed to Michael's (I know. What's wrong with this picture, right?).
As soon as we walked in we could hear the screams and cries coming from the Lemax Spooky Town Collection set up and we headed straight for it.
The small plastic art sets were the first things that caught her attention. We attempted to put a small one together last fall, but Kenz kept ripping it to shreds.
I thought we'd try again this fall. As soon as Kenz saw the large haunted house and graveyard set, she blurted, "I want that for my birthday!"
That's my girl, I thought.
So we grabbed that. Then I thought about spending $20 on a set that she might destroy rather than build. So I also picked up a cheaper little set featuring a haunted tree house.
Yesterday, while Cash was sleeping, Kenz and I decided to put it together.
We had a blast. Kenz kept busy with popping out all the holes in the plastic for things like the windows in the tree house and all of the ghosts. Then she had a great time gluing the ghosts and leaves to paper (I later had to peel them off and put them on the actual set. I wisely did this while she was taking her nap).
I bet she said, "This is the best Halloween project ever!" about a dozen times while we were putting it together. That was priceless.
After we had it all together, we put it on top of one of our book cases. As soon as Mom walked in the door Kenz exclaimed that she had something to show her and took her over to our haunted tree house. "I made it for you for your birthday, Mom," she said.
That's a sweetie!
