Pay for Performance

There is a lot going on in the world of education right now (nothing like a huge understatement, right?).  One of the many issues is pay for performance.  Duncan, Gates, and Rhee are pushing hard to get this passed.  (And isn't it funny how none of those figures right now are really actively involved in teaching!!)  But the research is quite clear that paying teachers more doesn't net better test results.

Sure, paying certain types of professions more for performance works.  But for others, it doesn't.
