Kenzie has always been a quick riser. I think she takes after her uncle Eddie in this regard. Whenever I would sneak into her room to grab a shirt or tie, she would inevitably hear me and pop right up and say, "Daddy!"
She was up and ready for the day from then on.
Well, last weekend we turned her crib into a toddler bed. It was time and Kenzie actually enjoys spending time in her room now. However, the change in her bed also caused Kenzie to age about 14 years. For now, when I go in to her room, she simply tells me to get out and that she doesn't want to get up.
What a change!
"Dad! I'm sleeping. Get out," was what she had for me this morning as I tried to rouse her.
"Dad! I'm still sleeping!" was what she had for me as I tried to tug her blankets off and get her functioning.
Finally, I had to pick out an outfit for her, so I flipped the light switch on and began rummaging through her drawers.
Kenzie promptly stood up. I thought, great, just like old times. She is ready for the day now.
Nope.
She simply stepped to the end of her bed, reached up, and turned the light off. Then she crawled back under the covers and declared, "Dad! I'm sleeping. Get out."
We might have to convert her daybed back into a crib!
