My niece Amanda married her long-time boyfriend Sean last weekend. It was a great ceremony. Father Chuck did a phenomenal job for the service.
I witnessed another of his services last spring when I attended Ashley's baccalaureate. Father Chuck gave a wholly engaging service.
He topped it last week at the wedding.
Father Chuck had Amanda and Sean sitting at the head of the church and he was talking about how much God loves them. As a way of comparison, he asked his congregation (at least those of us who are married) to think about how much we love our significant others. Not only that, but he said that he wanted all of the married folk to hold hands (Father Chuck had an ulterior motive here. He stated that he always wanted to get Arnie to hold Barb's hand in church!). Then he asked us to turn to each other and tell our better halves what we love about them.
I turned to Kristie and said the first word that comes to mind every time I think of her, "beauty." Thus, I said, "I love you for your beauty."
In turn, Kristie said that she loved me because of my kindness.
Right then, she smirked and began giving me a hard time for such an apparently superficial answer. I must add that it was not. Yes, she is physically gorgeous, but I also think her spirit and intelligence are a big aspect of her beauty too!
Of course, later on the way home from the wedding dance for a quick change before heading off for the dinner, we began to argue over our traits.
It was at this time that KoKo added, "Only you two could argue about the things that you love about each other."
It's a perfect match! That's why!
