wiffiti

The above is the original picture I created via comiclife to use for my wiffiti discussion board background.

The image below is how it actually appears when I embedded it from my wiffiti account.

This is my first stab at a waffiti discussion board for my class. What that means is that I can create a screen 'out there' is cyber land via waffiti.com. Students can post comments either from their cell phones or from computers.

Now, what's so special about this?

Well, I'd love to have a screen up on my Smartboard that kids could leave comments on as we read a story or watch a film or draft an essay.

Sure kids text me individual questions all the time. But sometimes I end up answering the same question 25 times. This way if one student posted a question shared by others, I could post a response (or just share it with the entire class).

Another way to use it could be in place of reader-response guides. I love to have students fill these out as they read a story. I think it engages them and allows them to begin reading critically.

This way, instead of filling out a worksheet, students could just post their responses on the screen for all to see. Think of the discussions we could have.

The only comment on my discussion board is from a student who was working in my room during my prep hour. As more students log on and leave feedback, the screen will become more cluttered with comments.

I'll have to tinker more with this before I start using it. I'll keep you posted. Maybe via my wiffiti account!

PS

It looks like wiffiti assigned me the user name 'bittersweetcuttlefish4' Sounds like me!
