Space Captain

Here is one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite bands.

I think you'd be hardpressed to find a better live band than the Black Crowes. They can sing and actually play their instruments. How rare - especially in an age where lip syncing and auto tuning is the norm.

I never knew "Space Captain" was an old Joe Cocker song, though. But it's off of one of a great live album, Freak and Roll . . . Into the Fog.

Sometimes they are a little too hippy and trippy for me - jamming on and on and on sometimes, but they are one of the most underrated bands of the past 20 years or so. I can't believe it's been 20 years since I first head "Hard to Handle" and "She Talks to Angels" off of their debut album Shake Your Money Maker.

The real shame is that I missed a chance to see them live in Fargo on the Lions tour. But I stayed home.
