Offensive

That word best describes the game last night. It was simply offensive to watch. And the Bengals' offense was exactly that: offensive. Or nonexistent. Or horrendous. Or disgraceful. Pick your adjective.

Mark Sanchez, the rookie with the 12 to 20 touchdown to interception ratio, made Carson Palmer, the former Heisman winner and two time Pro Bowl player who went 1/10 for zero yards and one interception, look like the rookie.

Chad Johnson, who had been running his mouth all week about his prime time match up with Derelle Revis, not only got schooled but also got shut out. His streak of at least one catch ends at something like 120 games.

The beat down was so offensive that at one point the Bengals had an 8 yard run by Larry Johnson of first down. That means second and two. That's a great position to be in. But not for the Bungals. After a number of penalties and illegal motions, they took that second and two and bungalled it into a fourth and 37.

It was offensive. Just like the score 0-37.

I thought the Bengals had absolutely no momentum going into the playoffs in '05 after they rested many starters and got beat down by the Chiefs 3-33.

But that's better than 0-37.

What was Lewis thinking?

He claimed he wanted the third spot in the AFC and to go into the playoffs with momentum. Yet, he rests his best offensive player (Cedric Benson) and his two best defensive players (Domato Peko and Chris Crocker).

That makes no sense.

Kind of like the whole night . . . or at least the Bengals offense.

Please, please, please someone fire their offensive coordinator, Brad Bradkowski. He's had an okay run for the past 10 years or so, but he has got to go.

In every single home game this year, the offense has been booed.

They can run the ball well. But their once vaunted passing game looks absolutely junior high.

And the delay of game penalties are the most ridiculous. How hard can it be to get lined up properly to hand the ball off?

Please can Bradkowski and promote the quarterbacks coach, Ken Zampese, before someone steals him as their offensive coordinator. Or hire former Bengals receiver coach (and Carson's offensive coordinator at USC) Hue Jackson from Baltimore where he is their quarterbacks coach.

Either of those would be a much needed breath of fresh air for an offensively stagnant offense.
