Up to Date

Haven't blogged in awhile.

Been far too busy this past week with inservice. This year it seems like we have more work time in our rooms than in the past, so I have put it to good use.

My room is pretty much set. I just have to make copies and get materials set for next week.

My school website is set and my lessons are posted.

I have a few other house cleaning issues to get done tomorrow, but I should not have to put in any time over Labor Day weekend.

Sad, sad, sad news.

It was incredibly sad two weeks ago when we learned that Kristie's cousin's baby girl, Lillyanna, died. Apparently, she had been eating sphaghetti at daycare when she began to choke.

I don't know if there was negligence on the part of the daycare provider or what, but it asperated into her lungs and her brain was deprived oxygen for 45 minutes. By the time she was in the hospital, it was too late.

Kristie went to the funeral on my birthday.

It made us hug and love Kenzie all the more.

Now, my sister's brother-in-law, Jake, is losing his battle with cancer. In fact, he is in hospice are right now.

Jake cannot be much over 40. Doctors found cancer in his liver last year. However, he seemed to have recovered. Then recently he went in with some pain and doctors found a tumor in his liver. From there he travelled to the Mayo clinic for chemo and to await a liver transplant.

However, the cancer proved to be aggressive and it spread. Jake and his family decided to head home for the final days.

Jake has a beautiful family, a wife and two children, who will be fortunate to have my sister and her husband and their family, but it won't take away the void that Jake will leave.

I'm afraid after losing Mom and Dad that I know what that void feels like all too well.

It made me love Kristie, Casey, KoKo and Kenzie all the more.

Love your families. You never know.
