Well, KoKo promptly announced yesterday that she wants to blog.
The difficult part was coming up with an interesting blogger name. That took awhile. But we settled on one that she approved of and set up designing her own blog.
Then came the next difficult part: the initial blog entry.
Now KoKo is never for want of anything to say or to talk about. But getting out those words on paper - well, her blog - was another matter indeed.
"Should I drink some coffee to get inspired?" she asked.
I couldn't help but laugh at that. I don't know where she came up with that one.
So she decided to blog about being a newbie blogger. Then she chose to tell the world a little bit about herself and what it's like as a high school freshman.
I couldn't help but smile as I read her voice and style come through loud and clear in her blog entry. Now here's my bias - that voice and style was totally missing from her five paragraph theme she wrote last year on keeping her room clean. We need to begin using blogs in composition classes to free up those voices.
