Barb's going to love this one . . .

KoKo's softball tournament in Hutchinson was a bit of a fiasco.

First, we were heading down to stay with Casey in Burnsville. Somehow - and I'm not quite sure how this happened - I missed the turn at Clearwater to jump from 10 to I94. Kristie was sleeping - as was KoKo - and maybe I was too! But Kristie asked where we were and I said "Big Lake," which was a little bit - and I'm stretching here - like Clearwater, who knows what I was thinking - I'm still fairly certain they moved the road or sign or something (the trip back, though, discounted that theory). Needless to say, Kristie was not happy.

The fact that I said, "I get lost EVERYTIME I go to the cities" didn't help things. Even though I recall Mom getting angry at Dad for turning down one of those one way roads (the wrong way) in downtown Minneapolis. Worse yet, it was one of those roads used just for buses!

So we ended up taking quite a roundabout way to Burnsville, but we made it - and only about a half hour later than scheduled.

However, that meant we were only allowed a few hours of sleep before having to get up and leave to Hutchinson.

KoKo's first game was bright and early (they lost 4-5). She played soon after (they won 13-3). However, there was a six hour break before the third game. We drove around and finally found the movie theatre, but we missed the matinees.

We stopped at the Dairy Queen for a few treats. Then we drove to the field, which had a really nice park next to it. There we found several members of KoKo's team goofing around and laying out on blankets.

Kristie and Casey plopped down on the blanket, and I was fortunate enough to get some of the pillow they were using.

Well, before I knew it, I was out like a light. For over an hour.

When I finally woke up, I heard people on the sand volleyball court. I cracked open an eye to see a bunch of people in blue uniforms playing.

Blue uniforms?

Our team had purple jerseys!

So I peaked around to see if any of the parents or players were still around.

No one was sitting in their chairs. In fact, their chairs were gone.

No one was sitting on their blankets. In fact, their blankets were gone.

There was one lady sitting on the cement picnic table. In fact, she was looking at me like I was some derelict or something!

Well, they left me for the game, I thought. I staggered up - sore from sleeping out on the ground for so long and tried to head for the Trailblazer.

As I neared it, only then did I see Kristie and Casey laughing at me. And taking pictures.

It seems that everyone was in on it!
