Why Macs are far superior to PCs

I admit it. I'm biased here. I've mostly used nothing but Macs. Our school is dominated by Macs, thus I've become very familiar with them.

I don't mind our PC, but it just can't come close to what my MacBook can do.

Here is a list of reasons for Mac dominance.

10. iTunes. I know you can use this with PCs, but it works so perfectly with iLife and other Mac features. It is the best digital music system and store out there.

9. No viruses. For whatever reason, Macs don't get viruses. Maybe it's because they take up a relatively small percentage of the computer market, so hackers don't bother making viruses for Macs. I don't know, but it's nice never having to worry about Norton Anti-virus and things like that.

8. iMovie. I know those of us who fell in love with the original version dislike the newer updates, but this is the best movie editing program out there.

7. It's compatability with Windows. You can now run Windows on a Mac. For several years now I have been running Office on my MacBook. You just can't run iLife or other Mac apps on PCs.

6. No damn right clicking. I hate the PC mouse. You can do the same thing with a Mac - except you hold down the clicker (don't know the correct name) and control. Much simpler.

5. Comic Life. Create comic strips of all types. I use this on a weekly basis in class.

4. iPhoto. This is a great photo application. Since it's a part of iLife, you can easily transfer pictures to iMovie, your iPod, or Comic Life - just to name a few. You can upload pictures from your iPhoto library to blogs and Facebook and other internet sources.

3. iWeb. Create your own web pages easily. I have to admit that I haven't explored this app enough, but it's one of the main reasons I upgraded to iLife '09.

2. Design. I hate to be about aesthetics, but Macs are so minimalistic in design - from the iPods to the laptops to the desktops to even the Mac stores themselves. Everything done by apple is done simple and precise. I like that.

1. Time Machine. The greatest application ever. Bar none. I can't believe how dead simple it is to back up my MacBook. And I don't mean just files. The whole thing! Hook up an external hard drive to your Mac (given that you - like me - update to Leopard - which Time Machine is part of) and hit Time Machine. My external hard drive holds up to one terabyte of information, so it took a few hours to back up my entire computer. But what is great about Time Machine is its set up. When you enter the program, it presents a menu bar from your computer and the exact time it was saved. You can set Time Machine to back up any changes you made.

To test it out, I deleted a movie I had saved. I went into Time Machine mode, found it and clicked "update" (I think that was the feature). Then it simply went to my external hard drive, found the movie and added it back to my MacBook - all in a matter of seconds.

Now it seems that nothing will get lost.
