Speaking - or blogging - of spiders . . . Dan and Ryan are working on our basement and Kristie was talking with them about spiders - since when I had to tear down our shower to get it out of their way, I took a garden hose down there and thoroughly soaked every nook and cranny of that thing to make sure the spiders were long gone before I began taking it apart.
I was reminded of all of the spiders Kristie said she saw in the shower - while she was showering (one had even had its web up for quite some time). Since I neither wear my contacts nor glasses in the shower - I was totally oblivious to them, though I did start taking shorter showers.
Ryan began chuckling as Kristie recited that story.
"Yeah," Dan went on, "we were working in this one basement where the ceilings were really low. There were cobwebs everywhere. We had been working for awhile and then we took a break and were visiting. I had my hand against the wall, and I just told Ryan, 'I hope we don't see any big spiders down here.' He just chuckled and said, 'oh, you mean like that one by your hand!'"
Apparently, there was a rather large saucer sized spider just a few inches from Dan's hand. He quickly screamed, grabbed his hammer, and squashed the arachnid. He said you could see its long legs go flying.
Ick.
