Easy Come, Easy Go

Well, KoKo had a boyfriend. For about two hours.

For some time now KoKo has been getting to know a boy from TRF over Facebook. KoKo's to-be step-brothers are from TRF, and the boy is a friend of theirs.

He and KoKo have talked quite a bit over the last couple weeks.

Well, one night came the text message that he wanted to ask her out.

However, Kristie and Bucky (KoKo's father) have set 16 as the age when KoKo can date.

For every boy who has had a crush on her, they remained firm.

But Kristie figured that if she actually went out with this boy, what more could they really do other than what they are already doing - talking on Facebook and sharing text messages.

Kristie was a bit undecided. I told KoKo that since he attended the high school where I teach, that if they boy came in to my room on Monday morning and pleaded his case for KoKo's hand (so to speak), we might let her date him.

However, KoKo called her father and he surprisingly relented on his steadfast rule.

Overjoyed, KoKo replied that she would go out with him.

So she blissfully texted with her new man for most of the evening. However, around ten o' clock, KoKo received an email that said, "I'm sorry. I tried to love you, but it's just not going to work."

And that ended KoKo's first relationship . . . all 120 minutes or so of it. That has to be a record.

KoKo, to her credit, took it well. She too found the humor in it.

Needless to say, now she will definitely have to wait until 16 for her next chance at love.

Stick to your guns and make her wait! You (and she) will never regret it!
