Today I tackle the carpet in our upstairs hallway.
Wish me luck.

We hate Best Buy!
Last year we attempted to buy a computer, printer, and wi fi system from them. Wisely, or so we thought, we would have the Geek Squad come to our home and set everything up. A day after our purchase, we received a confirmation call from the Geek Squad stating that they would work on our system the day before Labor Day weekend.
Everything appeared set and Kristie and I headed to GF to purchase a desk for the computer. About ten miles out, we received a call from the Geek Squader who would be installing our system. Apparently, the paper work got lost and he was already out of town for the Labor Day holiday and wouldn't be able to make the appointment. He was not willing to work around our schedules to get the system hooked up in the following days (I had school starting and Kristie was about to begin a new job).
To her credit, Kristie had us turn around, grab all of the things we purchased and return them to Best Buy.
You should have seen the looks on the workers' and manager's faces when we came in with all that gear - still in the boxes.
Apparently, the little bastard Geek Squader just wanted to slack off and not do his job.
Nevertheless, we returned it all and vowed not to return.
Well, we should have heeded our vow!
Nine months later, we returned and were conned into buying a new computer, printer, and wi fi network. He were going to leave our old computer hooked up to our server, so we decided to have a wireless internet connection put into the new computer.
At first, the salesman seemed confident that we could do it ourselves. However, when Kristie asked him to show us what he was actually talking about, he slid off the side of one computer and was poking his fingers inside when he got nipped by a fan and yanked his hand out.
"Ah, I think we'll have it installed here," Kristie wisely said.
Again, the Geek Squad promised fast results - they'd call us in about 45 minutes.
Well, 45 minutes quickly turned into two and a half hours.
Even then they could not get the wireless connnection to work once it was installed.
So we went home empty handed.
They called the next day stating that they were done and the computer was now wireless.
Everything seemed to be going our way.
However, when Casey tried to hook up our Linksys wireless adaptor, everything went to hell.
First, instead of being able to just plug it in and magically have wi fi access, we had to install softwear onto our old computer. Although I clearly remember our salesmen saying all we had to do was plug it in and -- presto -- we'd be set. Should have remembered that this bastard almost had the tip of his finger snapped off by a computer!
Apparently, the softtware is not compatable with our old computer. We tried hooking it up without attaching it to our computer (despite the package having a CD that read INSTALL THIS FIRST) - don't remember anything be stated about that by our salesmen.
Next, Casey decided to bring his dad's computer (which his father gave him for helping him move out of his old house - more on that in another blog), which is new than ours.
However, the software is calling for our router connection. But we don't have a router. Again, nothing was stated about that.
Finally, we relented and called our local phone and computer service. They will have someone over here within a few days to straighten things out.
I can't wait to return our Linksys wi fi model to Best Buy.
Moral of the story -- only buy CDs or movies from Best Buy.
Buy your computers on line (or go Mac!)

Yes, go Mac! I did about 2 years ago and convinced my parents to do the same last year. We're now a Mac household, complete with an AirPort for wireless and have had no major problems.
