Well, spring is here. I love it that you can always say this time of the year that, “This is the nicest day of the year.” That’s going to be true all the way into June.
Another sign of spring? Nine kids gone third block for baseball, softball, track, and tennis.
What can you do?

A former classmate of mine who is completing her student teaching at our middle school came over to sit in on my Science Fiction class.
We had two keynote presentations – one advising students on selecting their outside novels for their final imovie project – and the other introducing our next unit.
Then we wrapped up our first unit, “The Dangers of Technology/Mad Scientist” by finishing an anime film called “Blue Submarine No. 6.”
After class we sat around and talked about teaching. Another English teacher, whose class she would visit later in the day, stopped in and talked shopped too.
There needs to be more talk like that around here. There’s too much time wasted on sports and less important things than becoming better teachers.

KoKo has her second game today. They beat Crookston earlier this week. KoKo didn’t get a lot of playing time because of her sprained ankle; however, when she did get in she had a solid hit and eventually made the pivotal play in the game. Clinging to a lead, and with runners on base, KoKo, playing shallow right field, had a line drive hit to her. She scooped it up and tossed it to first, getting the out and ending the inning. The Eagles kept their lead and won.
The coach made a nice comment to Kristie about KoKo. KoKo was thrilled when Kristie told her about it. The poor little thing doesn’t always have the most confidence in her self.
But softball is her true love as far as sports go.
