We were looking forward to the Geek Squad arriving yesterday to install our new wireless internet and to sync our desktop computer, new laptop computer, and my laptop computer to the wireless port and our new printer. However, on Friday Kristie and I headed to GF to look for a small writing desk to put in the little reading nook in our living room. We thought this an ideal place to house the printer and laptop. However, about ten miles out, Kristie's phone rang. It was a member of the Geek Squad. Apparently, (and quite conveniently) the paperwork for Saturday had been lost, so the Geek Squader had already made plans for the Labor Day weekend. Ironically, several weeks ago when we were in Best Buy buying all our new computer stuff, Kristie told the salesman, "I wonder who the sorry sap is who will have to spend his Labor Day Weekend installing this stuff." Of course, our salesman promised an efficient job from the Geek Squad.
At first his promised seemed genuine, for the day after buying everything, we received a call from the Geek Squad confirming their date. Yet, somehow the paperwork still got lost. Rather convenient we think. I guess the kid just wanted some time off. But he's a computer Geek, right, what does he need time off for? I still haven't figured that one out.
So today or tomorrow, we will go to GF again and visit Best Buy to cancel everything except the new printer.
So much for customer service.
