Casey must have left the digital camera in the computer lab, for when I downloaded the pictures, I saw these two self portraits of KoKo.
I cannot believe how beautiful she is. And I am only her step father! Once my brother remarked to my dad concerning his daughter, Damara, "Well, Dad. Those other girls just aren't as pretty as Damara!" Dad always was quick to say how my atittude toward kids would change when I had my own. I was particularly repulsed when one of my infant neices would be drooling all over or need their diaper changed. But Dad always said I would see things differently with my own. Well, I don't have any of my own . . . yet.
But I do have KoKo and Casey and it's amazing how I view them differently than other kids.
I mean how beautiful is KoKo? Fresh from the pool and innocently goofing around. Look at those big, pouty lips! That dark skin. And add to that her innocence and gentle heart, and it just about makes mine ache.
Knowing KoKo, this is more like it. She - like her step father (and especially her mother) - can never go too long without goofing around.
