Serendiptity

I've always noticed that whenever I needed money, something would happen and it would arrive in the nick of time. Kristie's mother adamantly believes this too. Last year as we were getting ready for the wedding, we had to pay an advanced payment and suddenly an estate check would come and we'd have the money. Once my brother's wife was putting on an old leather coat that had belonged to my brother. As she dug her hand into one pocket, she pulled out at $100 bill. "Now we have a little extra cash," she said. But no sooner were the words out of her mouth -- or so Kevin tells me -- when their washing machine began to clang and clatter. The cost to repair? One hundred dollars!

The end of the summer has always been a precarious time for me in terms of money (and for many teachers in general). This summer is no exception. Having Dad's estate has eased things some, but we still have plenty of bills to pay. Just as I am waiting for my summer curriculum dollars to be issued at the end of this month (along with my first regular teaching check), I get an email from the director of the RRVWP. They are mailing me a check. It seems they didn't pay me enough as a returning fellow. The check should arrive soon.
